Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative Reaffirms Cultural Identity and Calls for Unity Around the True Igbo Development Agenda
Think-Home • Invest-Home • Build-Home Aku-Ruru-Ulo — “Let Wealth Return Home.”
The Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative (Igbo Economic Initiative) has reaffirmed the importance of preserving Igbo cultural identity, recognising indigenous communities, strengthening ancestral connections and mobilising Ndi Igbo worldwide around a constructive homeland-development agenda.
The Initiative made this known in an administrative and cultural communication clarifying the purpose of its dedicated platform, which is focused on the economic, cultural, developmental, investment and collective interests of Ndi Igbo, in accordance with its vision, mission and objectives.
The Initiative noted that Igbo indigenous communities and populations exist beyond the five South-Eastern states, with established historical, cultural and ancestral connections extending into several other parts of Nigeria. The states identified include Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Delta, Rivers, Edo, Cross River, Bayelsa, Kogi, Benue and Akwa Ibom States.
According to the Initiative, acknowledging these communities is intended to recognise the historical and cultural connections of Ndi Igbo across Nigeria, without diminishing the identity, heritage, rights or legitimate interests of other ethnic nationalities and indigenous peoples.
“IGBO BỤ OFU” — UNITY IN DIVERSITY
The expression “Igbo bụ ofu” reflects the principle of shared identity and unity among Ndi Igbo despite geographical boundaries, dialectical differences, political divisions and local variations.
The Initiative believes that cultural consciousness should provide a foundation for constructive cooperation, economic advancement, community development and the preservation of collective heritage.
This principle is embodied in its development philosophy:
Think-Home • Invest-Home • Build-Home.
The philosophy encourages Ndi Igbo at home and in the diaspora to maintain meaningful connections with their ancestral communities and channel their capital, knowledge, professional expertise, entrepreneurial capacity, technology and global networks towards sustainable homeland development.
A PLATFORM WITH A CLEAR PURPOSE
The Initiative stressed that its platform has been established for a specific institutional and developmental purpose. Members are therefore expected to ensure that their postings, comments, discussions and engagements remain relevant to the vision, mission and objectives of the Initiative.
Individuals who are not of Igbo indigenous heritage and who have joined or remained on the platform inadvertently, or without a genuine interest in its stated objectives, are respectfully requested to leave the platform voluntarily.
At the same time, the Initiative extends a warm invitation to Ndi Igbo and all persons genuinely committed to the true Igbo development agenda to participate constructively in the platform. Membership and participation should be guided by a sincere commitment to cultural preservation, economic empowerment, homeland investment, community development, unity and sustainable progress.
The Initiative clarified that this administrative position is not intended to promote hostility, discrimination or disrespect towards other ethnic nationalities. Rather, it is designed to preserve the specific identity, integrity, cultural orientation and developmental focus of a dedicated Igbo platform.
FROM CULTURAL CONSCIOUSNESS TO DEVELOPMENT
The Initiative maintains that cultural identity and economic development can reinforce one another. A people who understand and preserve their heritage can more effectively mobilise their collective resources towards building stronger communities and sustainable institutions.
Consequently, Think-Home is not merely about remembering home. It is about thinking strategically about home, investing productively in home and building enduring structures for future generations.
The Initiative calls upon entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, industrialists, academics, innovators, community leaders, traditional institutions, youths, women and members of the Igbo diaspora who genuinely share this vision to join hands in advancing the homeland-development agenda.
The ultimate objective is to encourage Ndi Igbo to transform their achievements, resources and global connections into employment opportunities, enterprises, industries, infrastructure, innovation and stronger communities across Alaigbo.
The Initiative reaffirmed that Aku-Ruru-Ulo — “Let Wealth Return Home” is more than a slogan; it represents a practical call for collective responsibility and purposeful action.
It therefore urges all members and prospective participants to embrace unity of purpose, mutual respect, discipline, professionalism and constructive engagement.
The message remains clear:
Think-Home. Invest-Home. Build-Home.
Aku-Ruru-Ulo — “Let Wealth Return Home.”
