The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide warmly acknowledges the heartfelt message of appreciation by Sir Dr Izuchukwu Nwabueze, Ichie Chinemeze N’Ukpo, following the burial of his beloved mother-in-law, the late Mrs Celina Ijeoma Akabuike.

We commend him and the entire Nwabueze family for their gracious expression of gratitude to the clergy, traditional rulers, government representatives, community leaders, relatives, friends and well-wishers who stood with the family during this solemn occasion.

The message reflects the enduring Igbo values of ịdị n'otu (unity), ịdịna-otu (solidarity) and mutual support in times of grief. It also reminds us that honouring the departed is not merely a family obligation, but an opportunity to celebrate a life, strengthen relationships and reaffirm the bonds that unite our communities.

As our elders wisely teach us, “When a person mourns alone, the burden is heavy; when the community gathers, sorrow finds comfort.” The prayers, presence and kindness of family members, friends, religious leaders and the wider community are invaluable sources of strength during bereavement.

We particularly appreciate the recognition given to the Catholic clergy, traditional institutions, public officials, security agencies and all those whose contributions helped ensure a dignified and peaceful burial. Such cooperation demonstrates what can be achieved when people unite in service, compassion and respect.

UNIEC Worldwide extends its sincere condolences to the entire Akabuike family, the Nwabueze family and the people of Nanka. May Almighty God grant them the fortitude to bear this painful loss, and may the peaceful memory of the late Mrs Celina Ijeoma Akabuike continue to inspire love, family unity and goodwill among all who knew her.
