AKU-RURU-ULO — “LET WEALTH RETURN HOME”

The Supreme Elderly Council of the United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) Worldwide has endorsed the principle behind the recent administrative directive requiring designated platforms to maintain strategic focus on the Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative, describing it as a responsible step towards institutional discipline, purposeful communication and collective economic development.
According to the Council, every credible institution becomes more effective when its members understand its mandate and direct their collective energy towards clearly defined objectives.

UNIEC maintains that Think-Home • Invest-Home • Build-Home should not be regarded merely as a slogan, but as a practical development philosophy capable of mobilising Ndigbo at home and in the diaspora towards productive investment and sustainable development across Alaigbo.
A DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY FOR THE FUTURE
The Council believes that the Think-Home vision provides an opportunity to transform the considerable human, financial, intellectual, technological and entrepreneurial resources of Ndigbo into tangible economic and social value.
Under this philosophy, wealth should return home through investment; knowledge through expertise; technology through innovation; skills
through mentorship; and capital through enterprise.
The objective is therefore to move beyond discussion and ensure that ideas become investments, investments become enterprises, enterprises create employment, and employment strengthens communities.

As the elders teach:
«“A stream that knows where it is going does not waste its waters in every direction.”»
UNIEC considers this principle especially relevant to institutional platforms, where strategic focus helps prevent valuable conversations from becoming fragmented or disconnected from the objectives they were established to serve.
DISCIPLINE WITH RESPONSIBILITY
While supporting institutional discipline, the Supreme Elderly Council emphasises that discipline must not be confused with suppression of legitimate opinions.
Administrative guidelines should be clear, reasonable, transparently communicated and fairly applied. Participants should understand the purpose of designated platforms, while management should administer applicable rules consistently and responsibly.
Where contributions fall outside an expressly defined platform mandate, appropriate administrative measures may be taken in accordance with established rules.
AKU-RURU-ULO: LET WEALTH RETURN HOME
UNIEC Worldwide considers Aku-Ruru-Ulo — Let Wealth Return Home a powerful call to responsible economic participation.
For Ndigbo, Think-Home should mean looking beyond immediate personal interests and asking what can be built, invested and preserved for generations yet unborn.
The Council therefore encourages greater participation in:
investment and enterprise development;
industrialisation and infrastructure;
technology and innovation;
human-capital development;
diaspora investment and strategic partnerships;
employment and wealth creation;
community development; and
sustainable economic growth.
As the Supreme Elderly Council observes:
«“The elder does not merely ask what the community can give him; he asks what he can leave behind for those coming after him.”»

FROM CONVERSATION TO DEVELOPMENT
UNIEC believes that the success of the Think-Home initiative will ultimately depend upon moving from conversation to implementation.
Let discussions generate ideas.
Let ideas attract investment.
Let investment create enterprises.
Let enterprises create employment.
Let innovation strengthen communities.
And let collective action contribute to a prosperous, competitive and sustainable Alaigbo.
The Council encourages members, professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, academics, young people and the Igbo diaspora to regard Think-Home as a shared development responsibility, rather than the responsibility of any single person or institution.
THE ELDERLY COUNCIL'S POSITION
The Supreme Elderly Council affirms that Think-Home • Invest-Home • Build-Home should evolve from a philosophy into a practical development culture.
Institutional discipline should provide the order.
Investment should provide the resources.
Knowledge should provide innovation.
Enterprise should create opportunity.
And unity of purpose should provide the foundation.
As elders, we believe that the greatest legacy is not merely what one accumulates, but what one builds and leaves behind.
ONE PEOPLE. ONE HERITAGE. MANY VOICES. ONE COLLECTIVE DESTINY.
