NEWS COMMENTARY AND INSTITUTIONAL PROFILE

1. INSTITUTIONAL IDENTITY

The United Igbo Political Congress (UIPC) is positioned as the flagship political, civic and leadership affairs platform of the Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative (Igbo Economic Initiative). It provides a forum for political consultation, responsible leadership, democratic participation and constructive advocacy.

Guided by “Unity • Representation • Responsible Leadership • Development,” UIPC brings together political stakeholders, professionals, community representatives and emerging leaders to advance Alaigbo.

2. OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBLE ENGAGEMENT

UIPC promotes cross-party dialogue, ethical leadership, accountability, constitutional governance, democratic participation and policy ideas on representation, infrastructure, employment, enterprise and community welfare.

It welcomes youth, women, professionals and diaspora stakeholders, emphasising peaceful engagement, mutual respect and practical policy development.

3. CONNECTION WITH THINK-HOME DEVELOPMENT

As a flagship platform of the Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative, UIPC connects responsible political engagement with Alaigbo’s wider development aspirations.

THINK-HOME • INVEST-HOME • BUILD-HOME

Consultations may address investment, infrastructure, employment, enterprise and community welfare, while UIPC retains its focus on political, civic and leadership affairs.

4. STRATEGIC COLLABORATION WITH UNIPECA WORLDWIDE

UIPC envisage strategic collaboration with the United Igbo Patrons and Elders Congress (UNIPECA) Worldwide in elders’ counsel, stakeholder consultation, leadership development and institutional dialogue. This collaboration could connect experienced leaders with emerging voices.

The collaboration is subject to institutional approval; each organisation retains its distinct identity and responsibilities.

5. PROPOSED ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURES

Subject to appropriate institutional approval, UIPC may operate through:

  • National Executive Council;
  • State Executive Committees;
  • Local Government Executive Committees; and
  • Ward Committees.

They would support national-to-grassroots coordination. Appointments, finances and delegated responsibilities must follow approved procedures and applicable law.

6. INSTITUTIONAL STATUS

UIPC is a flagship platform of the Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative, not a separately incorporated organisation. It does not claim independent Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration or separate corporate personality.

Its activities must remain within the registered objects, governing framework and formal approvals of its host institution. Contracts, financial commitments and binding transactions require duly authorised persons or organs acting in accordance with applicable law.

Expressions of interest or proposed appointments do not automatically confer membership, leadership authority or official position.

UIPC is intended to complement, not replace, established institutions or lawful democratic processes. Its activities should remain inclusive, non-violent, consultative and focused on the legitimate interests of Ndigbo. Public statements and programmes should accurately distinguish approved institutional decisions from proposals still under consideration, protecting credibility and encouraging informed stakeholder participation. This supports accountable conduct at every institutional level.

7. INVITATION TO IGBO STAKEHOLDERS

UIPC invites political leaders across party affiliations, serving and former public office holders, traditional rulers, elders, professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, youth and women leaders, civil society representatives, community stakeholders and the Igbo diaspora to contribute ideas and experience.

The invitation promotes mutual respect, consultation and practical solutions without discrimination based on political affiliation or professional background.

8. STAKEHOLDER CONTACT AND PARTICIPATION

Interested individuals and organisations should submit expressions of interest through the official contact channels of the host institution, the Igbo Think-Home Development Initiative (Igbo Economic Initiative).

Submissions should include:

1. Full name or registered organisational name. 2. State, Local Government Area or country of residence. 3. Professional, community or institutional affiliation, where applicable. 4. Telephone number and email address. 5. Brief statement of interest and proposed contribution.

Enquiries will be routed through the host institution. Participation and appointments follow approved procedures; verify anyone communicating appointments, financial requests or institutional decisions.
